I remember it just like it was yesterday. I marched right into the living room from the kitchen & announced to my grandmother, “They’re putting things away where they don’t belong & they won’t listen to me because I’m little!”  

Spoken like a true professional organizer at the ripe old age of 4. The delivery was very dramatic.  Visualize this…big blue eyes, blonde pony tails, cute little dress (with a matching apron JUST like Rosie’s that was made for me by our sweet family friend, Mrs. Morris), black patent leather shoes, a slight lisp & hands firmly planted on hips. Followed by arms crossed above my head, thrust down to my chest with a hearty “Uggghhhhh”. And for full dramatic effect, hands on hips with a facial expression responsible for my quarterly visit to get Botox 40 years later. 

This exchange happened during a dinner party at my grandparents house as a few ladies, who were just trying to be helpful, clearly didn’t realize there was a system in place. MY system! How could they not see it? Why on earth would they put the serving spoons in the drawer with the spatulas? Who does that? I can actually remember thinking, “These people are in charge?”

After my dramatic exclamation, Rosie, my grandmother, promptly took my hand, lead me back into the kitchen & informed her guests that if Betsy says something belongs in a certain place, that’s where it goes. 

I have always loved that story & I truly believe that a career in professional organizing was my calling. It’s clearly a skill I was born with. And what’s better than finding your calling at a young age then make a living doing it?!

2B Organized has grown from that little girl organizing her Grandparents kitchen, to a small local business to, what is now, a nationwide company with over 10 locations & growing! Like Mark Twain once said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
